Genu Valgum
 
Genu valgum (Knock Knee) is a condition where the legs are bowed inwards in the standing position. The bowing usually occurs at or around the knee, so that on standing with the knees together, the feet are far apart.  Genu valgum is often associated with complications of increases Q-angles, overpronation of the foot and a toe-out gait.  Manifestations of genu valgum is often chondromalacia patella.

Custom orthotics do not correct knock knees but do protect against foot imbalances caused by this condition.  The role of the orthotic is confined to the treatment of pes planus and overpronation.

Genu Varum
 
Genu varum (Bowl Leg) is a condition where the legs are bowed outwards in the standing position. The bowing usually occurs at or around the knee, so that on standing with the feet together, the knees are far apart
 
Custom orthotics do not correct bowl legs but do protect against foot imbalances caused by this condition.  The role of the orthotic is confined to the treatment of pes cavus and supination.
