What are Orthotics?
Custom orthotic foot braces are corrective devices made to assist a foot that fails biomechanically, to function normally. This is achieved by first obtaining a neutral position plaster foot mold. The custom orthotics are made at our Professional Pedorthic Lab from specially selected thermoplastics that are heat molded to fit the subject's positive plaster cast.
The orthotics are made to control abnormal foot function, re-establish proper weight distribution and overall biomechanics by not allowing the foot to fall out of subtalar neutral position during gait. Improper foot function and weight distribution of the lower extremities is often the cause of many foot, lower leg, pelvic, back and neck overuse or stress injuries. The proper use of these corrective devices should significantly reduce a patient's symptoms.
